Rookmere is a calm, classic chessboard for your pocket. Warm wooden squares, crisp black and white pieces, and a rival called The Warden who is always ready for one more game. No sign-up, no network, no waiting for an opponent.

How to play:

  1. Tap New game and choose your opponent: The Warden or a friend on the same phone.
  2. Pick The Warden's level from 1 to 4 and your side: White, Black or Random.
  3. Tap one of your pieces. Its legal moves light up as dots on the board.
  4. Tap a highlighted square to move. The last move stays framed so you never lose track.
  5. Checkmate your opponent's king to win, or settle for a draw when the position calls for it.

Features:

Progress:

Start at level 1 to learn the shapes of the pieces, then climb to level 4 as your openings and endgames grow sharper. Every finished game lands in your history, ready to replay and study, and your record against The Warden shows how far you have come.

Offline and private:

Rookmere works fully offline. There are no accounts, no ads and no data collection. Your games and statistics stay on your device, and you can clear them at any time in Settings.
